Where Poems Fly, Through Starry Skies.

One eyed

A story of old, of the God with one eye. A being who at the end is fated to die.

He sought for knowledge, here and there. Some say he went everywhere.

There was once a time, when he wanted a taste, of the fabled well, at the Yggdrasil’s base. That fathomless well, filled with great words. Under the care of the wise Mimir.

So he traveled that way, up that mighty ash. To the halls of Mimir, in the lands of ice. He spoke flattering words, made a great plea. But Mimir told him, he must pay a hefty fee.

He pondered at this, and thought it through. What would be a fair price, for so great a brew? At last, the answer came to him indeed. And at once he began his plan.

To his own face, his hand did creep. Up his cheeks and across his brow. To his eye that seen across the stars. His fingers sank deep. He gave a mighty shriek.

As he plucked out his eye and dropped it down. It sunk into the well, seeing all-around.

With that the great Mimir held forth a cup. It was filled to the brim with the waters he sought. He tipped it back, drained it dry. Never a cost has one paid for knowledge so high!
