From hilltops I gaze down. Looking at the valley floor.
I gaze in wonder at what I see, oh whatever could it be?
I see grass, growing green and thick, I long to settle among it.
Feel it’s feather light caress, as it brushes against my flesh.
But wait. I see more :
I see trees, the mighty monoliths, the kings of the forest tall and proud.
Massive oaks, glorious beaches, even here and there a maple abound.
A gentle breeze flows by, and I watch them bend now sway.
I long to be among them. To dance with them and play.
But wait. I see more :
I see shadows, places made of darkness
The light has yet to touch
Filled with burning desire, I long to explore them.
One day, I surely must.
Now the hour has come. The sun shall soon set
In deepest longing I have begun to weep.
For my heart so longs for this place
Away from man’s horrid race.
I bow my head. I week as I kneel.
For with great sadness, I return to lands of Iron. Filled with steel.
