Like a chameleon changing colors
We hide behind a mask
We peel away a layer
A new skin lies beneath
We become who we must
To survive in this world
Yet it’s a process filled with pain
With misery and doubt.
As we lie to ourselves
The inner truth rants and shouts
Demanding what this is about.
It wants us to be free
It wants us to be who we truly must be.
But this world is not so kind
It keeps us in a bind
As we hide the truth, until a later time.
