Mysterious and captivating
Words used to describe love
Misunderstood and torture, are better ones I think
Questions flitter through my mind
As I ponder why we love.
And in the end I think, it’s torture sent from above.
We are drawn to some, repelled by others
Beg for attention, yet watch as they choose another.
Wondering why we still stay around
When hopes are dashed into the ground.
What makes one stay? To continue to try
When everything goes south, and your hurting inside?
It’s a spark, a mysterious allure
That draws you to the fire, that must be it for sure.
You meet them, you speak
Begin to think you’ve found what you seek
Your spellbound and hooked
With just a simple look.
You act a fool, learning while you go
But as you do, there’s always more to know.
You try to plumb the depths
Of the mystery before your eyes
But your in for a rude awakening
And a disappointed surprise.
They mysteries go on and on
Down the rabbit hole of the soul
Deeper than any can ever go
And in the end you finally know.
You can never understand them
No matter how you try
There’s always more to learn
It always leads to surprise.
The depths remain hidden
Shrouded in cavernous pockets
Beyond all hope of reaching the end
Your quest now lies forgotten.
