Is this world a mess, or is it me?
Can I have peace. Will it let me be.
Can I simply wander among the trees
From now to far flung eternity?
I wish I could, I wish I may
Have this simple wish, on this dismal day.
It would keep me warm in the still night
As I wander the eternal twilight.
Alone, forgotten, left here to rot
It once was a fate I dearly sought.
But now the price for it has been paid
I wish so dearly I had delayed.
That I had joined the throngs of man
Or taken the journey across to the summer land.
To seek the wisdom of the sages
Held in plain view since long ago ages.
Yet I made the poorest choice
Left in the shadows to rejoice
Upon the endless solitude I’ve found
In the steel towers called town.
