Long ago there was hopes and dreams
And everything else that lay in between.
Back then I had no idea what it means
To lose everything to the world at large.
I thought I was bound in icy chains
In a rut that would never change.
That I could always stay the same
Oh for the days of stagnant youth
When one could be a simple fool.
I learned hard, I learned fast
The lessons are bitter, the taste will forever last.
Along with the memories of the past.
For the world struck hard, it’s blame went deep
My soul bled crimson, tears streamed as I wept
Agony beard her ruthless face
And made my stubborn ideals become a disgrace.
It took so long to learn the truth.
That change will come whether you like it or not
Even when the opposite is what you’ve sought.
