Smoke fills the air
As all cry with despair
Tears raise the sea
As the truth is now seen.
Panic blooms, mountains crumble
The sound caries, a distant rumble.
The sky turns crimson as it burns
The sea boils as it twists and churns.
The lessons we need have still not been learned.
Lightning flashes, thunder crashes
Bolts from the heavens hammer upon us
Yet still we turn a blind eye
To the pain of the Earth on which we reside.
What will it take, to make us understand
The destruction and chaos now at hand?
Will it be when the air we breathe chokes us?
Or when out bellies whine with need for food?
Will we look around then, and see the land we’ve abused?
Understand the fate to which we are doomed.
Knowing this race, and the lives we live.
I doubt it then, for still too few will care.
