Through the hourglass the sand endlessly flows
Never ceasing down, down it always goes.
A river of time in it’s unending dance
Through the ages it goes, against it none have a chance.
Trees wither and fall
Stones crumble to dust.
All things end, as they surely must.
Cities rise, crumble to ash
Relegated now to far flung past.
Mighty monuments, fantastic sights
All fade in the end to the blackest of nights
As the sands flow onward through the hourglass of life.
Their endless dance the cruelest delight.
